(1) Clean terminal connectors (2), (10) and (11), batteries (6) and frame using a suitable neutralizing agent and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Notify higher level main- tenance if terminals, cables, batteries or frame is damaged. Protect battery terminals with a light coat of silicone base grease. c. Service. (1) Fill batteries (6) with clean distilled water to a level of 3/8 inch above top of plates. In freezing weather run engine a minimum of one hour after adding water. 3-12. GROUND ROD AND FUEL DRUM ADAPTER PIPE HOLD-DOWN ASSEMBLY. a. Removal (see figure 3-3). On ASK equipped generators, remove oil access door and fuel filter access door. ( 1 ) G r o u n d R o d a n d F u e l D r u m A d a p t e r P i p e. Loosen screws (1), lockwaahers (2). Slide ground rod pieces (3) out of hold-down assembly (4), then slide out fuel drum adapter pipe (5). ( 2 ) H o l d - d o w n a d a p t e r .
