Table 2-2. Generator Set Troubleshooting (Cont) Malfunction 23. 240 25. 26. Frequency  meter  fails to  register. Percent power meter fails to register. Units  paralleling  out  of phase  (B2)  (contactor closing  when  parallel- ing lights are bright). Remote  sensing inoperative. Probable  cause a. Frequency meter defective. b. Frequency transducer defective. c. Engine  speed too  low. a. Percent power meter  defective. b. Thermal  watt converter defective. c. Set  operating at  no-load. Permissive  paralleling relay (K16) defective. a. b. c. d. Local  - Remote voltage  switch (S5)  on  control panel in local position or defective. Remote  sensing leads  not connected to sensing point. K6 relay de- fective. Control panel relay (A4) components (R10 and CR1) defective. Corrective action a. b. c. a. b. c. Replace  meter  and  transducer (Refer to Operator and Organi- zational Maintenance Manual). Replace  frequency  meter  and transducer (Refer to Operator and  Organizational  Maintenance Manual). Raise engine speed to rated value. (Refer to Operator and Organiza- tional Maintenance Manual). Replace  meter  (Refer  to  Operator and  Organizational  Maintenance Manual). Replace  thermal  watt  converter A1 (para 3-7). Adjust load bank or apply load. (Refer to Operator and Organiza- tional Maintenance Manual). Measure ac voltage between 1 and 2 on K16. When lights are the brightest, 120 volts should exist; voltage should decrease  toward  zero,  as lights dim. If voltage is OK, remove leads from relay  pins  7  and  8.  Measure continuity across pins 7 and 8 while observing volt - meter  connected  at  pins  1 and 2. Continuity should exist  at  9  volts  and  below. There  should  be  no  continuity at 9 volts and above. Replace defective  relay  K16  (para 8-6 and 8-7). a. b. c. d. Place switch in correct position. Check switch for continuity in all positions. (Refer to Operator and  Organizational  Maintenance Manual). Check connections. Make correct connections, Check  relay  K6.  Replace  if defective (para 3-5 and 3-10). Replace R10 or CR1 if defective (para 3-3 thru 3-5). 2-16 Change 5
