Advanced Modulation
Advanced modulation is the process of moving to a distantly related key or to a closely
related key using advanced modulation techniques. All pivot chords may be described as:

Pivot chords
old key . . . . . . . . . . . . . . new key
Diatonic . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Diatonic
Diatonic. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Chromatic
Chromatic. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Diatonic
Chromatic. . . . . . . . . . . . Chromatic
may be enharmonically spelled.

DIATONIC TO DIATONIC
The pivot chord will be diatonic in both the old and new keys using diatonic to diatonic modulations.
