Using a multimeter set to ohms scale, perform continuity check on OPERATION pushbutton (b14). If continuity is present, go to step 7. If no continuity is present, replace pushbutton (b14) (para. 2-94). NOTE To check for power between connections U1, V1, and W1, push contactor (c2) button. Step 7. Using a multimeter set to range higher than 220V ac, check between U1 and V1, U1 and W1, and V1 and W1 on terminal strip for 220V ac. If power is present, go to step 8. If no power is present, replace wiring between contactor (c2) and terminal strip (figure FO-1). NOTE In order to perform the following step, belt guard (para. 2-17) must be removed. Step 8. Using a multimeter set to range higher than 220V ac, check for 220V ac between connections U1 and V1, V1 and W1, and U1 and W1 of main motor (ml). If power is present, go to step 9. If no power is present, replace wiring between main motor and terminal strip (figure FO-1). Step 9. Check main drive motor (ml) commutator and slipring brushes for dirt, damage, or excessive wear (para. 2-79). Remove dirt or debris. Replace damaged or worn brushes (para. 2-79). Check thermal overload device. if motor does not operate, replace motor (2-79). 2-25
