Check if platen bushings bind.
Lubricate bushings.

Check if friction brake binds.
Lubricate.

Check if friction brake slips.
If so, tell your supervisor.

Check if linefeed idler gear slips.
If so, tell your supervisor.

Check if linefeed idler gear is broken or worn.

Check if platen drive gears are broken or worn.
If so, tell your supervisor.

Check VFU drive belt tension.
If not as specified, tell your supervisor.
