(4) Throw flare from helicopter (fig.  2-17),
base end first, assuring that flare clears helicopter.
c. Jettisoning Dispenser Assembly With Flares
Due to Emergency in Flight.

NOTE
If flare does not separate from static line
During flight, bail must be out from under
XM164, do not attempt to pull flare back
handle of firing device, and safety valve
into helicopter. Detach static line XM164
handle must be in ARM position.

To jettison dispenser assembly, pilot must lift safety
switch cover on firing panel, place safety switch in ARM
(5) After flare has fallen away from aircraft,
position, and press firing device handle. The dispenser
retrieve static line and retain pull cable assembly for
assembly, with flares, is automatically ejected from
disposal after landing.  Stow static line XM164 in
helicopter.
