TM 10-1670-299-20&P TO 14D1-2-470-2 NAVAIR 13-1-41 Section IV.  UNIT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS) 2-8.  GENERAL.  Always keep in mind the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS when you perform your checks and services. PMCS is performed upon receipt and quarterly thereafter.  Record all defects found during performance of PMCS and, if applicable,  the  steps  taken  to  correct  them,  on  DA  Form  2404,  Equipment  Inspection  and  Maintenance  Worksheet. Instructions for reporting/correcting noted deficiencies are provided in DA PAM 738-750. 2-9.    UNIT  PMCS  PROCEDURES.    Table  2-1  lists  the  specific  PMCS  that  must  be  performed  by  unit  maintenance personnel on a quarterly schedule.  If your equipment fails to operate, troubleshoot as described in Section V. a.  Purpose.  PMCS is accomplished to insure that the equipment is ready for use at all times and all deficiencies are  corrected  promptly.    These  checks  and  services  are  designed  to  help  you  find  and  correct  defects  before  the equipment is damaged or fails to operate. b.  The "ITEM" column of Table 2-1 indicates sequence of inspection.  Use this column to obtain the numbers for the "TM Item No." column of DA Form 2404. c.  The "INTERVAL" column of Table 2-1 tells you when to do a certain check or service. d.  The "ITEM TO CHECK/SERVICE" column identifies and illustrates the item. e.  The "PROCEDURE" column of Table 2-1 tells you the procedure by which the inspection is to be performed and the expected results are described. 2-3
