PREPARING PARACHUTE FOR PROPER LAYOUT

TM 10-1670-280-23&P                                                       0011 00 0011 00-2 2.    Pack-In-Process Inspection.  A designated supervisory parachute rigger, other than the packer, must perform a pack-in process inspection at six intervals during the packing procedure.  The inspection is performed to ensure the parachute is packed according to authorized packing procedures (refer to WP 0009 00, INSPECTION). ORIENTATION   Throughout this manual, all directions (right, left, upper, lower, top, bottom, clockwise, and counterclockwise) are given from the rigger’s point of view, as the rigger stands looking from the parachute riser (tension device) toward the canopy vent (stationary post). 1.    Top.  That portion of the equipment that is farthest from the packing surface. 2.    Bottom.  That portion of the equipment that is nearest to the packing surface.
