FOLDING THE GORES CONT.

TM 10-1670-269-23&P    0012 00 0012 00-6 4.    With lines 1 and 24 on the inside of the connector snaps and lines 12 and 13 on the outside of the connector snaps, the parachute is now in proper layout, ready for folding the gores. NOTE If parachute is being packed for the first time, insert ripcord grip in the pocket and remove with a twisting motion five times to flex ripcord pocket. 5.    Install ripcord in ripcord grip pocket. FOLDING THE GORES After the parachute has been properly laid out, proceed as follows: 1.    Move to the apex end of the table and dress the upper lateral band.  Apply pressure toward the tension end of the table until the upper lateral band is aligned.  Apply sufficient tension at the tension plate to hold the canopy and suspension lines taut. 2.    Move to the lower lateral band of the canopy.  Lift right group of suspension lines with the left hand at canopy skirt.  Hold top center gores in position with the right hand, and with left hand flip right group of gores over left group.
