LEAKAGE DEFINITIONS

It is necessary for you to know how fluid leaks affect the status of the trailer. The following are definitions of the

types/classes of leakage needed to determine the status of the trailer. Become familiar with them. When in

doubt, notify your supervisor.

Class I Seepage of fluid (indicated by wetness or discoloration) not great enough to form drops.

Class II Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops, but not enough to cause drops to fall.

Class Ill Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops that fall.

CAUTION

When operating with class I or II leaks, check fluid levels more often than that required in the PMCS.

Equipment operation is allowable with minor leaks (class I or II). Notify your supervisor when in doubt.

Class Ill leaks must be reported to your supervisor or Organizational maintenance.

PMCS COLUMN DESCRIPTION

Item No. The order that PMCS should be performed, and also used as a source of item numbers for

the TM number column on DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance

Worksheet, when recording results of PMCS.

Interval Tells when each check is to be performed.

Item To Be Inspected Lists the check to be performed.

Equipment Is Not Ready/Available If Has an entry only when the trailer should not be operated or

accepted with that problem.
