Administratively, the SERT reports to the system testing officer (STO). The STO, in turn, reports to the combat system officer (CSO) as shown in figure 4-5. In the following paragraphs, we will discuss the SERT somewhat in detail, both what it is and what it does. If your ship has a SERT, the discussion will help Figure 4-5.–Combat system department organization. 4-12
