Definition of Terms Introduction Points and lines Knowing the professional terminology used in a selected field is imperative for any degree of success.    Illustrator  Draftsman  is  no  different.  Without  a solid knowledge of the definition of terms used in this field, you will be lost. Make sure you understand this chapter before you skip ahead to other chapters in this training manual. This basic discussion on points and lines is to make sure you understand their definition and representation.   If you do not understand how to succinctly draw a point or line, a viewer will not know how to interpret them. POINT: A point is a location in space. It has no height, width, or depth. Represent a point of intersection on lines with short crossbars or between two lines with short cross hairs.    Do not represent a point with a mere dot on paper.
