Blueprint Compositions, Continued Scale The scale block shows the-size of the drawing compared to the actual size of the part or assembly.   Choose the scale to fit the object and the space available on the sheet of drawing paper.   Never  measure  from  drawings; always use stated dimensions. Scale usually appears as part of the title block.    Indicate scale using the fractional method where the drawing unit is the denominator and the object is the numerator, the equation method where scale is indicated in feet (’) and inches (”), or the graphical method with a primary scale to the right of the 0 and a subdivided scale to the left of the 0.
