Views, Continued Section lining Section lining is the symbolic representation of surfaces used to indicate the material used in producing the object or the finish given to the surface of the object. Additionally, you should notate detailed specifications on materials or surface finishes in text on the drawing in the title strip. Since there are many different section lining symbols, a general-purpose section lining (which normally represents cast iron) is often used in conjunction with specific notations to save time and effort.
