Subtractive Theory of Color, Continued Monochromatic The monochromatic color scheme is a single hue used in various tints, color schemes shades,  and  intensities.  A  monochromatic  scheme  is  harmonious  although there is nothing to which a monochromatic color scheme can disagree.
