This section of the program management guide is to assist those

individuals assigned responsibility for implementing the
Radiological Safety Training for Radiation-Producing (X-Ray)
Devices.
Upon completion of this training, the student will have a basic

understanding of the principles of RPD operation, safety
requirements, and classification of various types of radiation-
producing devices.
Individuals who have assigned duties as RPD operators; also staff
Target Audience
associated with operation, maintenance, and radiation safety of
RPDs.
This course illustrates and reinforces the skills and knowledge
Course Description
needed for RPD operators in the basics of safe operation of RPDs.
The purpose of this lesson is to provide information on each of the
primary RPDs and discuss the applicable rules governing the use of
these devices. Utilizing the requirements and recommendations from
ANSI N43.2 and ANSI N43.3, this course will establish guidelines
for the proper use of common types of installations that:

Use X-ray diffraction and fluorescence analysis equipment
(analytical) and
·
Use X-ray machines up to 10 million electron volts (MeV) for
non-medical purposes (industrial).
