Inspect the harness for wear, deterioration and corrosion of the hardware.  Pay particular atten- tion to rear jocking strap grommets and webbing. b. Ensure harness strap stitching is in good condition. c. Ensure the buckle, latch mechanism, and locking Inspection reveals any of the device to be operable.Lubricate as required. defects sighted above or any defect that renders the helmet inoperable. 20. Boot Inspection. a. Inspect the boots for wear, deterioration, and corrosion of the loops and buckles. b. Ensure the straps are in good condition. 21. Boot Cleaning. Wash the boots inside and out with freshwater.  Use a mild soap solution, if required.  Rinse with clean freshwater.Allow the boots to dry thoroughly prior to stowage. 22. Glove Inspection. a. Inspect the gloves for wear, deterioration, punctures, and stressed seams. b. Wash the gloves with freshwater.  Use a mild soap solution if required.  Rinse with clean freshwater.Allow the gloves to dry thoroughly, inside and outside, before stowing in a cool dry space. 2-12
