With any access door open, the noise level of this generator set could cause hearing  damage.  Hearing  protection  must  be  worn  when  working  near  the generator set while working. The  fuels  used  in  this  generator  set  are  highly  explosive.  DO  NOT  smoke  or  use open  flame  when  performing  maintenance.  Flames  and  explosion  can  occur, resulting in severe personal injury or death. Before ENGINE  ASSEMBLY Visually  inspect  the  generator set for fuel, oil, and coolant leaks.  Check  for  proper  ground connections. Visually  inspect  the  engine  for missing,  loose,  or  damaged parts and hardware, and for unusual wear or deterioration. l DEAD  CRANK  switch  to NORMAL. Any fuel leaks. Any Class III oil or coolant   leaks. Any  condition  that renders  power unit/power  plant  not mission  capable. 2-17
