Operates under all climatic cond DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS The Basic Generation Unit (BGU) consists form tractor pad or 8 1/2” x 11" tions. of  three  components: The Portable Plus personal computer hereinafter referred to as the portable computer is a battery powered desk-top computer used to generate SOI/CEOI and SINCGARS   information. The top flips up to reveal a screen and a full size “QWERTY” (typewriter-style) keyboard. The keyboard contains eight variable-function soft keys (f1-f8) located along the top row of the keyboard. These keys drive separate menu options appearing on the screen. Arrows keys move the cursor to a desired location. The portable computer provides two external connectors for Input/output (1/0) operations or a loop Interface. The computer is powered by a sealed rechargeable 6-volt lead-acid battery and can be used while the battery is being recharged by the ac adapter. The ThinkJet printer is used to make printed copies of work done on the personal  computer. Use HP ThinkJet paper provided; and, be sure to allow for additional space near the printer for paper storage. The ink jet print head cartridge contains ink to print approximately 500 pages. The cartridge is completely disposable and easy to replace. In addition, the ThinkJet printer uses the Interface Loop (HP-IL) to communicate with the computer and the disc drive. The 9114 Disc Drive is a battery operated electronic storage device used to: (1) Load program and data information, (2) Transfer data from discs into the portable computer, (3) Store information from the portable computer discs. 1-17
