TM 11-5895-1412-12&P Transit cases Individual System Height: 10 pounds 4 ounces Width: 18 1/4” Depth: 8 3/4” Length: 14 3/4” Individual  transit  cases,  although  the  same  physical  dimension,  will  have styrofoam  cutouts  unique  to  peripherals. CHARACTERISTICS 32 pounds 4 ounces 39" 13" 21" Displays: All LCD visual displays are clear and legible in almost all lighting  conditions. Computer: 16 bit 8086 Microprocessor 1024 bytes of ROM/RAM (total) 80  characters  X25  line  tinted  liquid  crystal  display;  enhanced HP keyboard. Printer: Dot Matrix -   150 characters per second; Size and weight: The  BGU  consists  of  three  small  lightweight  compact devices that can be carried by the user and can be assembled for use within a few short moments. Continuous printing over 1 and 1/2 hours or 200 pages before recharging;  Readily  accessible  controls. Disc Drive: Double  sided  3  1/2”  microfloppy  disc  media,  710  kilobytes formatted  memory  capacity;  6  kbytes  per  sec  transfer  rate;  497 milliseconds  access  time. Storage: The portable computer, disc drive, and the printer can be stored in the transit cases. Exposed  parts  are  reasonably  protected. (Refer to “Transporting the BGU” for more details) Battery  life  expectancy: At average use life expectancy of the BGU batteries  is  approximately  2  years. Battery use: portable  computer  -  40  minutes  -  continuous  read  and write  operation.  Disc  drive  -   5 hours of continuous use, or 12 to 16 hours of intermltent use, or 20 hours of standby operation. Recharging batteries, Self test: drive  also and is moni approximately  11  hours  required  to  fully  recharge  the depending upon use. the printer can perform a one page self test. The disc has a power-on self test that lasts from 6 to 11 seconds tored by a “fault” light during the test cycle. 1-16
