ADJUSTABLE CONNECTING LINKS
NOTE
Adjustable connecting links are made
of round seamless corrosion resistant
steel 304. Rod end inserts may be
swaged or riveted on each end. One
rod end bearing is fixed or riveted on
one end of the link and adjustable on
the other end.
1.
Inspect links for cracks and fractures. There shall
be no cracks or fractures. If a crack is suspected,
refer to TM 1-1520-253-23.
2.
Inspect links for nicks, scratches, gouges, and
dents. Links which exceed the following criteria
shall be rejected:
a.
Scratches must not be greater than 0.010
inch deep and 0.020 inch wide.
b.
Nicks, gouges, and dents must not be greater
than 0.010 inch deep, 0.200 inch wide, and
0.200 inch long.
3.
Blending of acceptable nicks, gouges, dents, and
scratches is permissible but not recommended
due to the resulting appearance (Task 11-14.2).
