LEAKAGE DEFINITIONS Leakage definitions for operator PMCS shall be classified as follows: CAUTION You may continue to operate equipment with Class I or Class II leaks; however, check fluid levels frequently. When in doubt, notify your supervisor. Report Class III leaks to your supervisor or unit maintenance immediately. a. Class I. Seepage of fluid (as indicated by wetness or discoloration) not great enough to form drops. b. Class II. Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops but not enough to cause drops to drip from item being checked/inspected. c. Class III. Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops that fall from item being checked/inspected. 2-7. PMCS TABLE PMCS procedures are to be performed as shown in table 2-4. These procedures are designed to protect both the operator and the equipment. Performing them as directed ensures that the PDU is ready for operation at all times. The following paragraphs explain the column headings in table 2-4. a. Item No. Column. The numbers appearing in this column are in the order the work should be done. This column shall also be used as a source of item numbers for the TM Number Column on DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet) for recording results of PMCS. b. Interval Column. This column indicates whether PMCS are done before operation (B), during operation (D), or after operation (A). c. Item to be Inspected Column. This column identifies the item to be inspected. d. Procedure Column. This column contains a brief description of the check or service to be performed and step-by- step procedures. e. Equipment is Not Ready/Available If Column. This column identifies the condition that prevents the equipment from being ready for operation. NOTE To conduct PMCS on a specific configuration, it may be necessary to remove or install certain components or subassemblies. Refer to appropriate paragraphs in section III of this chapter. 2-8
