CAPSTAN AND ANCHOR KITS — M113A2 AND M1059. Provide a
9-2350-261-10
system to pull
carriers out of mud, soft dirt, or swampy areas. Act as a self-recovery system for the
personnel carrier. The Capstan Kit has two drums that attach to the final drives.
The Anchor Kit anchors are placed in the ground, then attached to nylon ropes
which are wound onto the capstan drums to pull the carrier free. When not in use,
the kits are stowed on the top deck and on the left side of the carrier.
