REVIEW NUMBER 10 ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS Q1. THROUGH Q4. A1. The primary cause of accidents involving handling equipment is carelessness or unfamiliarity  with  the  use  and  limitations  of  handling  equipment,  failure  to observe safety precautions, orders, and regulations about handling and stowing ammunition  and  explosives. A2.  To  operate  handling  equipment  that  carries  explosives,  you  must  be  qualified  and certified according to OPNAVINST  8023.2  (series). A3. Equipment, such as slings, bands, beams, and strongbacks, is weight tested at  200 to  215  percent of its SWL. A4. If the date and results of the latest static test are not current or not marked on the equipment,  don't use it. 9-48
