T o  determine  breakaway  torque,  thread
nut onto screw or bolt until at least two
threads stick out. Nut shall not make
contact with a mating part. Stop the nut.
Torque necessary to begin turning nut
again is the breakaway torque. D O n o t
r e u s e self-locking nuts that do not meet
m i n i m u m breakaway torque.
