SAFETY SUMMARY
The following are general safety precautions that are not related to any specific
procedures and therefore do not appear elsewhere in this publication. These are
r e c o m m e n d e d precautions that personnel must understand and apply during many phases
of operation and maintenance.
KEEP AWAY FROM LIVE CIRCUITS
Operating personnel must at all times observe all safety regulations. Do not
replace components or make adjustments inside the equipment with the high-voltage
supply turned on. Under certain conditions, dangerous potentials may exist when
the power control is in the off position, due to charges retained by capacitors.
To avoid casualties, always remove power and discharge and ground a circuit before
touching it.
DO NOT SERVICE OR ADJUST ALONE
Under no circumstances should any person reach into or enter the enclosure for the
purpose of servicing or adjusting the equipment except in the presence of someone
who is capable of rendering aid.
RESUSCITATION
P e r s o n n e l working with or near high voltages should be familiar with modern methods
of resuscitation. Such information may be obtained from the Bureau of Medicine and
Surgery .
The following warnings appear in the text in this manual and are repeated here for
emphasis :
WARNING
F l i g h t controls may move abruptly upon system turn-on, initial
c o n d i t i o n s insertion, demonstration maneuvers or conditions
s t o r e / r e s e t . Keep clear of controls until neutral position is
( P a g e s 2-31, 7-7)
reached.
WARNING
C a r e should be exercised when exiting the simulator during power
f a i l u r e . T h e boarding ramp may fail to deploy.
WARNING
Prior to the activation of motion, all occupants of the simulated
c o c k p i t and IOS (limited to three persons per flight compartment)
are required to fasten seat belts.
